### Sustainable Livestock Working Group (GTPS) Officially Renamed to Brazilian Roundtable on Sustainable Livestock
São Paulo, May 23, 2023 – After 15 years of history and significant progress in recent years, a name change was necessary and important to reflect the remarkable transformation the group has undergone and to reinforce the vision of the Brazilian Roundtable to be the voice of sustainable livestock in Brazil to the world.
In 2020, the Brazilian Roundtable began revising its governance system, focusing on bringing more transparency and agility to decision-making, as well as maintaining legitimacy that meets the expectations of its nearly 70 members, while giving equal voice to all links in the chain. "This work also involved updating the institution's vision, values, and areas of action to ensure that all initiatives were reflected in the new strategy for strengthening the organization and its national operations," said Sérgio Schuler, President of the Brazilian Roundtable and Vice President of Animal Nutrition at DSM.
The strategy to expand the operations of the Brazilian Roundtable on Sustainable Livestock has been underway with the addition of new members from various regions of the country. "From the debate on emerging topics, we began to build sector positions and create commitments signed by everyone in the chain," commented Luiza Bruscato, Executive Director of the Roundtable.
The work of the Brazilian Roundtable has been divided into four areas of action, which will guide this new cycle:
**Knowledge:** Promote debates that generate a common understanding through Working Groups, Sustainable Livestock Data Summaries, and Advocacy.
**Engagement:** Agree on actions that pave the way for sustainability through Commitments and Partnerships.
**Communication:** Create spaces that stimulate collaborative dialogues through Forums and Webinars, Lectures, and the Map of Initiatives (MIPS).
**Education:** Inspire people to be part of the solution through Training and the Guide of Indicators for Sustainable Livestock (GIPS).
**International Presence**
Last year, the Brazilian Roundtable secured a position on the Executive Committee of the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (GRSB) with the election of Luiza Bruscato as a member-at-large. With a two-year mandate, her main responsibilities are to represent the six Latin tables in strategic global discussions, defending regional positions, and addressing demands.
All these points led to the creation of a comprehensive concept for the new brand, which demonstrates and honors the entire history of the Group, its purpose, and where we want to go. WE ARE THE BRAZILIAN ROUNDTABLE ON SUSTAINABLE LIVESTOCK.
